Tips:

Search on middle names as well as first names when doing credit checks. Many people will sometimes use middle names instead of their first names.

Always do a name search, even if you have the correct ID number.

 



Terms of Use

General

Authorized persons are only allowed to use CCBLís information to determine the creditworthiness of people and businesses that they are doing business, or are planning to do business on credit. Prior to being authorized, business must first subscribe to our services and agree to our terms and conditions. Subscribers determine the users that they would like us to authorize. These users have to be properly identified prior to receiving a user ID and password.

CCBL requires subscribers to provide credit history information. The type and frequency of reporting is dependent on the type of credit transaction. Subscribers are responsible for submitting accurate information to us. CCBL maintains the right to correct any information it deems to be wrong.

Consumers have the right to find out what we have on them in our files as well as who submitted the information. They also have the right to dispute the information and have any wrong information corrected without delay.

Disclaimer

The data provided by either Contract Party to the Other shall be processed fairly and lawfully and must be factual and where necessary kept up to date. The Subscriber is responsible to provide fair and accurate information to CCBL.

The Subscriber is responsible to inform its customers that they are utilizing the CCBL services investigate their credit worthiness, and that they will be reporting credit history information to CCBL. CCBL shall not be liable to the subscriber for consequential loss or damage arising out of the CCBLís performance or non-performance of this Agreement, where such loss or damage could not reasonably have been foreseen.

No claim may be brought by either Contract Party after the expiry of six (6) months from the date when the First Party become aware or should have become aware of the event or the omission on which the claim is based.

Disputes

Consumers also have the right to dispute information contained in our files. In the event that any information is wrong, they have the right to have it corrected without delay, and to have the parties that have accessed the incorrect information notified of the changes that were made. To start this process consumers are required to complete the Dispute/Change Form, which we forward onto the reporting subscriber. The subscriber is required to investigate and report their findings to us ASAP. In most cases, both subscriber and consumer agree on changes to credit rating and status codes. However, in the event both parties do not agree, then CCBL uses its best judgment and makes the changes in its database that it considers fairest to all parties.

Privacy Policy

Consumers have a right to have to privacy of their confidential information. Our information is only to be used for the purposes of investigating the credit risk when applying for credit, applying to rent or lease, or when tendering a cheque for payment. In the event that CCBL discovers that a user is violating the terms of our agreement, it will take immediate steps to address this violation.

CCBL maintains a log of all queries made by our authorized users. Authorized subscribers are the only ones that have access to a limited amount of information regarding your credit history. Complete details on your credit file are only shared with you upon proper identification, or due to a Court Order instructing us to provide information. We respect a consumerís right to privacy and take all steps to ensure that our information is not used in an unauthorized manner.

User Conduct and Obligations

Authorized Users are required to conduct themselves in a responsible manner when using our services. This begins by always being respectful to the consumer that you are dealing with. We suggest that you always thank the consumer for providing you the opportunity to serve them. You should advise the consumer that you will be performing a credit check on them as part of your companyís policy to provide the best possible service.

Consumers have a right to have to privacy of their confidential information. Our information is only to be used for the purposes of investigating the risk of doing business with the consumer. CCBL maintains a log of all queries made by our authorized users, and the users are responsible for those queries that are registered against them in our logs. Users have an obligation to justify queries performed by them. In the event that CCBL discovers that a user is violating the terms of our agreement, it will take immediate steps to address this violation.

Our subscribers are obliged to report fair and accurate information to us, and to report any discrepancies to us as soon as possible after becoming aware of any errors in the information that they reported to us. Subscribers should inform their customers that they will be reporting bounced cheque and other credit history information to Consumers have a right to have to privacy of their confidential information. Our information is only to be used for the purposes of investigating the credit risk when applying for credit, applying to rent or lease, or when tendering a cheque for payment. In the event that CCBL discovers that a user is violating the terms of our agreement, it will take immediate steps to address this violation.

Subscribers are also obliged to inform the consumer that they have a right to know what information CCBL contains on them in our database, and to dispute any information they deem to be incorrect by directly contacting us.
